India to Decide on Allocation of 3G Spectrum by March '06

According to a statement by the Indian Minister of Communications and Information Technology on Tuesday November 29, the Indian government expects to make a decision by March 2006 on the allocation of 3G spectrum to operators. The Minister was quoted as saying that the Indian mobile phone market needs more players in order to make 3G services price competitive, hinting that developments in this area will influence the government's decision on whether to allow operators to offer 3G services.
